My Permanent Art

Some people just aren't tattoo people {my husband, my parents} and that is totally fine. I however enjoy them, I love the meanings behind the art people get on their body and enjoy how each person can express themselves differently! 

Last Wednesday I added two tattoos to my existing 3.

Now, I need to draw my tattoos on myself with pen and really contemplate them, after all I am keeping them forever. And when I say contemplate it is usually for over 6 months - I have wanted these two tattoos for about two years now!!

I got my first tattoo when I was 18. A Cross on the inside of my right ankle with a Dove {to guide me on my journey through life with Christ} and a Fish {to remind me that He is all I need to live a full life}. This tattoo was a recreation of my favorite ring, purchased at an ELCA youth gathering - After 8 years I still love this one so much!!

I got my second tattoo with my sister. We both have the word 'love' on the inside of our left ankles. This one is so special to me because my sister got it with me and this is just one more thing to bind us together!! {mine is the bottom}

My family means the world to me and I wanted a tattoo to represent them. I decided to do a heart behind my right ear to represent each of them.

For those who looked at my post yesterday or follow me on IG - I have kept you in suspense long enough. Here are my two new additions. 

I knew I wanted a tattoo representing the family I would start, something I could add on to. So {you know where this is going} behind my left ear I started 'my heart family' for my husband and eventually our children. 
{this is really hard to take a photo of by myself - it really is a heart}

Last but not least - I got our wedding date in Roman Numerals on my wrist. 
9.8.12 was a day I never want to forget, the day my boyfriend and I promised our lives to each other before God and our family & friends to become Husband & Wife!!

Now say what you want about tattoos, about people with tattoos but I will leave you with this food for thought!

Five Random Things on Thursday

I love reading people's About Me pages or their random posts with little "about me's" in them. It gives us a chance to see they are a real person and gives us that moment where we can say 'oh my goodness Me Too!'

1. Sea Salt Chocolate Covered Caramels are my guilty pleasure. Seriously the best of everything! Salty:Sweet:Chocolate:Caramel -- mmm my mouth is watering as I type!

2. I must have a box of tissues in my car along with a garbage. I know this one is really random but it seems I always need to blow my nose when we are driving somewhere. I am sure once we have kids this will also come in really handy for more than just blowing their nose {aka. kids are messy {see also >>} that is why we don't have them right now}

3. I hardly ever wear perfume or scented lotions. I have a very sensitive stomach and almost always get nauseous when I smell a strong perfume or cologne. {and that is why my husband has an all natural cow scent going on and not the latest scent from Giorgio-Armani}

4. I won't use my bath towel more than once. I don't care how clean I may be when I get out of the shower, the next day I'll use a new one instead of risking wiping my face where I wiped my butt the day before!!

5. I set 8 alarms. 6:31, 6:46, 6:50, 7:03, 7:11, 7:15, 7:25, 7:42 : This is not a joke I LOVE my sleep and apparently love to press my snooze button. I usually wake up around the 7:03 alarm but have the other ones for backup. I used to have 3 alarm clocks placed all around my bedroom growing up in hopes I'd get up to turn them off and then stay up - No such luck my mom almost always woke me up and turned them off because I'd sleep right through them.

6 Things You Should Know

This little question post has been floating around blogland and I was happy to be tagged by the ever so sweet Casey from Aslan's Auspicious Albany Adventure. 

I've been asked to fill out 6 questions to help you get to know me a little bit better so here we go...

1. If you could pick up and move anywhere for 6 months, where would it be? Somewhere on the West Coast. My husband and I always say if farming ever fell through we would move to the Seattle area. 

2. How long have you known your best friend? I've been friends with this lady since 1st Grade and she is getting married in 62 Days and I can't wait for all the fun activities to come!! 

3. How has blogging benefited your life? I have met so many amazing women through this little online community! I've won giveaways, made lasting relationships, and learned how life is pretty similar all across the country. It is fun to find such a giant group of women who are so similar and probably wouldn't have met if it weren't for them publicly sharing their stories. 

4. What accomplishment are you're most proud of? At the moment I'm really proud of myself for taking one of my biggest passions and making it a side business. I've always been someone who loves taking pictures and the fact that people actually like my photography makes me feel pretty awesome! 

5. What is your biggest pet peeve? Hands down people making annoying noises with their mouth. I can't stand people chewing with their mouth open, smacking their lips, cleaning their teeth with their tongue…ahh the list could go on and of course my Husband and His Cousin {our old roomie} would make these noises on purpose just to get me irritated! 

6. Were you part of a "click" in high school? Hmmm I guess an outsider may have called us that. The group of girls I hung out with were probably considered the more popular ones in our huge class of 30. I hope we weren't like Ms. George on Mean Girls but I have no doubt we probably had our days! 

Wow, maybe after finding these pictures we just thought we were cool ... oh well it didn't matter to us, we had {and still have} a great friendship!

Why did you start blogging?
• I started blogging as a way to remind myself what was happening in my life
1. What bothers you about humanity?
   • People who take advantage of the government. I got a good email today about people who abuse the welfare system. I use to work at a grocery store and it was frustrating to see all the people who abuse the money given to them essentially by tax payers. Here is a quote from the email forward “If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.”   
     • :: Just want to say :: I’m not against people who use these government services for the purpose they are intended for … But when I see Joe Blow down the street with 5 new vehicles and his wife has a new set of fake nails every week but yet their family has to be on every type of welfare possible I think someone just needs to teach them money management.  
2. One-piece or two-piece swimsuit?
   • Two-piece … hopefully my metabolism keeps up otherwise I'll have to start working out or wear a One-piece.






What was your favorite vacation?
• Paris, France. I took a Spring Break trip there 4 years ago during college … it was amazing and I hope I can have the opportunity to return there again.
What countries are your ancestors from?
• Mainly Norway and France
What is one of your prized possessions?
• My Wedding Ring. It is beautiful and everything I wanted, my hubby did a great job! 
Red or white wine?
• Red
What is your favorite dish to cook or bake?
• Any kind of Pasta, I have a favorite 4 cheese pasta bake that is super easy and super delicious! 
What is your go-to stress reliever?
• A glass of wine or a nap - I like a good walk too but in the middle of winter here in ND that isn't always possible.

   • In high school my girlfriends and I met Billy Currington  :-)






What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self?


• Oh wow, I don't really remember 15 that was 10 years ago! But one thing might be :: don't worry if you aren't doing well in Math class, in the real world they always let you use a calculator :-)
