Tuning in today to bring you another Edition of gratefulness and thankfulness - Thanks to Ashten for reminding me to take time to give thanks!!
// My Health might always be something I am GRATEFUL for....Well, as long as I'm healthy I guess. {knock on wood} My facebook feed this week had some sad things dealing with other people's bad health so I pray for them and their families and I am reminded not to take mine for granted
// Red Velvet Donuts << I'm GRATEFUL for them and I don't think an explanation is needed
// I am GRATEFUL for technology, doctors, and my new sight. I am still in shock that I can wake up and see. I got Lasik on Tuesday and less than 24hrs after surgery I could see better than 20/20
// I am GRATEFUL for Blates and babies and meeting this sweet sweet Friend in real life
// GRATEFUL for our puppy who is pushing 80lbs and will be 8 months in 2weeks - oh how she makes me smile and brightens my day
// Two bloggers this week had posts that made me say YEESSS. So, I am GRATEFUL for them and my empty womb >> Read Melanie's Post >> Read Krista's Post
// My caring husband, for him I am GRATEFUL. He picked me up from eye surgery and it was so heartwarming to see him take care of me. Again {knock on wood} I've never been sick so this was kind of a first!!
// Crazy GRATEFUL for my Instagram followers - and if you are one of them Thank You. I felt very loved there this week *Heart Eye Emoji*
As I mentioned some of our really close friends just got engaged and both Steve and I are so excited. As a Throwback Thursday post of our wedding photos and an ode to their upcoming nuptials I have a poem to share!
In Marriage by Julia Escobar
Cherish each other
in big ways and in small ways,
and never forget the magic
of those three little words: "I love you."
In marriage, remember that
it is the little things that make the difference…
Don't forget the birthdays and the anniversaries.
An occasional note means a lot.
Share each other's life - even the small details -
for too often we forget
that day-after-day becomes
year-after-year, and then it's gone.
Give each other room to grow…
We all need our time alone.
Keep strong your faith in each other;
time has a funny way of testing us,
and it's faith that gets us through.
Respect one another…
This world could always use more of that.
Speak your mind honestly, openly,
but with kindness,
for angry words are scars that may never heal.
Trust each other;
let your trust be your rock.
Most of all, each day…
be sure to hold each other
and fall in love all over again.
Today equals year two. Two years of loving each other as husband and wife. Two years of growing with each other. Two years learning from each other.
To my Husband of two years, I love you today as I have for the past 7.5 years. We experienced many exciting things this year and I can not wait to see what God has in store for our future. I love that we never have to put on a show for each other and I am my best self when I'm with you. Thank you for loving me! Love your Wife xo
We aren't big production people so today really won't feel much different than any other. Instead of gifts we will be shopping in our department store on the lower level of our house - not kidding we have tons of unused shower/wedding gifts that haven't been touched since they were opened!! I am so thrilled I get to walk through life with this man by my side, I may be biased but he is pretty spectacular!
Some people just aren't tattoo people {my husband, my parents} and that is totally fine. I however enjoy them, I love the meanings behind the art people get on their body and enjoy how each person can express themselves differently! Last Wednesday I added two tattoos to my existing 3.
Now, I need to draw my tattoos on myself with pen and really contemplate them, after all I am keeping them forever. And when I say contemplate it is usually for over 6 months - I have wanted these two tattoos for about two years now!!
I got my first tattoo when I was 18. A Cross on the inside of my right ankle with a Dove {to guide me on my journey through life with Christ} and a Fish {to remind me that He is all I need to live a full life}. This tattoo was a recreation of my favorite ring, purchased at an ELCA youth gathering - After 8 years I still love this one so much!!
I got my second tattoo with my sister. We both have the word 'love' on the inside of our left ankles. This one is so special to me because my sister got it with me and this is just one more thing to bind us together!! {mine is the bottom}
My family means the world to me and I wanted a tattoo to represent them. I decided to do a heart behind my right ear to represent each of them.
Mom - Dad - Sister
For those who looked at my post yesterday or follow me on IG - I have kept you in suspense long enough. Here are my two new additions. I knew I wanted a tattoo representing the family I would start, something I could add on to. So {you know where this is going} behind my left ear I started 'my heart family' for my husband and eventually our children. {this is really hard to take a photo of by myself - it really is a heart}
Last but not least - I got our wedding date in Roman Numerals on my wrist. 9.8.12 was a day I never want to forget, the day my boyfriend and I promised our lives to each other before God and our family & friends to become Husband & Wife!!
Now say what you want about tattoos, about people with tattoos but I will leave you with this food for thought!
Do you have tattoos? Or one you want to get really bad? I wanna know!!
It is so crazy to think last year at this time we were just getting done opening wedding gifts and starting to recoup from our wedding dance the night before.
Not a whole lot has changed in the past year, he is still the boy I've told everything to for the past 6.5 years and now we are Husband & Wife.
I would like to think I have started becoming more domesticated but looking around at the mess of {organized} piles maybe housekeeping just isn't my thing. I have managed to keep several house plants alive though, so I'm on the right track in the green thumb department.
As far as my Farm Wife adventures go, I survived Planting season {as a farm widow} and now Harvest is right around the corner. Although these aren't new undertakings for me it is always hard not seeing my hubby until he crawls into bed only after I've been sleeping for hours. So here is to hoping Harvest goes fast, smooth and praying nothing breaks!
I didn't know it was possible but I have fallen more in Love with this man throughout our first year of marriage and I can not wait for all the adventures and years yet to come!
Almost forgot to mention all the fun I had taking photos this weekend {this is just one of them}
Two years ago today, at sunset, my boyfriend asked me to be his wife. We have been newlyweds for 355 days and he is still making me laugh and smile everyday - I'd say we are doing pretty good!
I want to share one of my favorite verses from a framed photo mat we got as a gift for our wedding, and I doubt this is the last time you'll see it on the blog because I enjoy it so much.
"I Do" By Bonnie Mohr:
This is your love story, come true… Your journey of marriage begins with 'I Do' Cherish this bond, it belongs to only the two of you. Start each day with gratitude and compassion for each other, and unconditional love will follow. Believe in each other; support each others dreams. Remember to dream together too. Always give more than you think the other needs. Say, 'I love you' and 'thank you' every day! Trust, respect, and appreciate each other. Be spontaneous, be fun, be romantic! Stand together, but let there be space in your togetherness. Know when to listen, to talk, to let your heart feel. Apologize. Forgive and forget - doing so will make you feel better! Work together. Play together. Pray together. Allow God to be the foundation of your marriage. You have been chosen for each other … it is His plan. With each passing year, you will grow closer together, drawing strength from one another … and two will become one. You will be blessed with the greatest happiness in life, To Love and to be Loved.
I just think it is beautiful and true in so many ways.
I'll leave you with that short and sweet post for this Thursday.
Warning:: If you follow my Instagram you might see some pics of a new little stud named Ryan and some of my best friends. Yesterday one of my Best Friends had her baby - I get to meet the little guy today and I'm beyond ecstatic. Crazy to think we are at the stage in our lives where we {and by 'we' I mean 'they'} are becoming moms!
